Who’s Who Wednesday :: Mackensey Alexander of Mackensey Alexander Photography ( Savannah Wedding Planner )
One of the best parts of working in the wedding industry is forming close relationships with different vendors. Spending 8+ hours together at a wedding is sure to bond even the most introverted of folks {though let’s be honest – this isn’t exactly the job for introverts!} and transform an otherwise anonymous face in the crowd into a close friend.
Mackensey Alexander is a beautiful soul with an innate ability to truly see a person and capture his or her authentic self on camera. She is a gem of a lady and makes each of her clients, even those who typically dislike having their photo taken, completely comfortable and at ease.

  Not only has this incredibly talented photographer blessed us with her gift multiple times this year, from our very first styled shoot {which was published in Weddings Unveiled – squee!} to so many of our beautiful real weddings {see examples here, here, & here}, but she has also done us the honor of referring our services to her wonderful clients.

Mackensey, the ladies of Design Studio South truly cannot thank you enough for your love and support of our growing little business. You are a truly fantastic person, photographer and friend whom we are so lucky to have met.
Now, brides- and grooms-to-be who are reading this and have not yet secured a photographer, heed me when I say: if Mackensey’s style of photography makes you as weak in the knees as does your beloved, act quickly! She only books a few weddings a year so that she can devote the proper care and attention to each. So if you want her, let her know before someone else snaps her up! ;)

With that, I hope you all have a lovely evening and enjoy your New Year’s Eve to the fullest!

Technical Tuesday :: Choosing Your Wedding Website ( Savannah Wedding Planner )
Good afternoon, loves!
Today I am tackling a particularly overwhelming yet ultimately life-saving aspect of wedding planning: the wedding website. These beauts can handle some of the most frustrating aspects of planning, including RSVP management and information dissemination to guests. Rather than attempting to squeeze details onto a tiny Save-the-Date postcard or adding pages to your already-elaborate wedding invitation suite, you can set up a wedding website {with a custom domain name, of course} and type away to your heart’s content.
All of the below examples are alike in their inclusion of said custom domain name, unique mobile/tablet/desktop formatting {a lifesaver for procrastinating guests who don’t check wedding event details until an hour before they are supposed to show up and so naturally need your site to show up properly on their iPhone!} and fantastic 24/7 customer service.  The only true differences lie in cost and available designs {for example, Squarespace’s format does not include an RSVP tracker}.
1 :: Riley & Grey : $35/month or $240/year; high-end, modern design layouts – think black & white  Kate Spade mixed with Chanel.

2 :: Squarespace : {14-day free trial}; packages range from $8-30/month; simple, clean design – think the Gap with a touch of lululemon.

3 :: Sitting in a Tree : {10-day free trial}; $25/month or $125/year; modern, preppy designs  – think J. Crew mixed with a touch of Lilly.

My best advice would be to test out the two that offer free trials, see which has features you really love with a design that speaks to you, and choose whichever is the best fit. If you are in love with the Riley & Grey website designs and absolutely must have it for your wedding website, go with it!
Have a fabulous day, y’all!

Moodboard Monday :: Pastel Pinks, Magnolia Green & Southern Romance ( Savannah Wedding Planner )
Ladies and gentlemen,
Hi y’all! Welcome to our new Design Studio South blog. Pull up a comfy seat, a warm cup of coffee {for you morning-folk} or a big glass of wine {for you work-weary souls} and savor some delectable wedding inspiration straight from Savannah’s premier planning company.
This week’s mood board inspiration is a custom board we created for one of our April brides. Her intimate, romantic Southern wedding ceremony is to take place in Chatham Square with a reception to follow at the Olde Pink House {one of our favorites!} and her color palette ranges from accents of deep green magnolia leaves to the lovely pastel hues of pale grey, palest pink and salmon.

 Our design process always starts with developing a mood board to focus in on exactly what our clients want to communicate through the design elements of their big day. Throughout the planning process, the mood board serves as a quick snapshot we use to ensure each aspect of the event is properly  focused and communicates the right overall aesthetic.
Be sure to check back in May for this April bride’s real wedding feature  to see what real-life loveliness comes out of this gorgeous inspo!
xx, Jennifer

Merry Christmas!

Green Valley Ranch Shoot

{ Favorite Holiday Wedding Inspiration Shoot of 2014 }

Hello! It’s time for us to take some time off and enjoy the holiday break with our loved ones. Alysse will be heading to Wake Forest, NC, for Christmas and I’ll be heading to Wilmington, NC for New Years.

We want to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you, for a great year of inspiration, for your sweet encouraging comments and for inspiring us in everything we do. This has been a truly wonderful first year for us, and you are, without a doubt, a huge part of that. So thank you, this company wouldn’t mean a thing without you and your support.

Merry Christmas!

-Alysse and Tristan
