Real Wedding Sunday :: Jennifer + Karl { Savannah Wedding Planner }

Jennifer + Karl’s patriotic wedding only felt appropriate to share on this Independence Day weekend.  A color palette of red, white, and blue was evidenced in each little detail of this Spring fete.  The bride, Jennifer is part of the National Guard and her groom part of the military.  Both have such pride in their beloved country that they found nothing more appropriate than to share their adoration with their guests.  See below for some of the highlights from their very special day.

Red shoes are an unexpected, fun POP OF COLOR!

Red Lip

For a further pop of red, Jennifer rocked a fierce red lip.

Bridal Flowers

While the flowers were kept all white to lend a timeless, classic look, interest was created with each bridesmaid carrying one specific type of flower versus bouquets chock full of a variety of flowers.

Military Groom

Check out our dapper groom in his dress blues!

And our stunning bride on the grand staircase.

First Look

Jennifer + Karl chose to share in a first look just outside their historic venue.

Bride + Groom Kiss

We adore that their wedding party chose to sneak peek a look too from the upper balcony.

Bride on Stairs

The bride also chose to do a first look with her Father.

The ceremony took place under a large original colonies stars and stripes flag.

The bride + groom partook in an unity salt ceremony.  They combined two different types of salt into one container.  Once the grains of salt combine there is no physical way to undo that action much like the act of marriage.

The evening was capped off with the bride + groom exiting through a spectacular display of sparklers and mini American flags!

We hope that you all enjoyed sharing in this wedding as much as we did and that it put you in just the perfect amount of July Fourth spirit!!

Friday Favorites :: Bridal Beach Bag { Savannah Wedding Planner }

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you had a good week and have an even greater weekend coming up! With Summer officially being here and the weather getting a bit warmer {ok, A LOT warmer} we thought it only fitting to share with you our favorite beach bag essentials in this round of Friday Favorites.

 1. Kate Spade Daycation Bon Shopper – Make sure to carry all the essentials in a fun, cheery inspired tote like this flamingo tote bag.

{and let’s be real Kate Spade already makes our hearts go pitter patter}.

 2. Monogram Tumbler– In this Summer heat it is so important to hydrate so make sure you have a cute container to hold your fluids.  Headed to the beach with a group?  Personalize the containers to keep the beverages straight.

{For a refreshing thirst quencher we suggest water with some of your favorite fruits like lemon or cucumber + mint!}

 3. Beach Hat– Make sure to cover up and protect from the blazing sun!

We adore this floppy option with cheeky “Here Comes the Sun” saying.

4. Sunglasses– Be sure to protect your peepers…We are smitten over this rose gold option!

Turkish Beach Towel

5. Beach Towel– When you stake your claim to your piece of sand make sure you make a statement with these Turkish inspired beach towels.

 6. Summer Reading– Long gone are the days of reading books over the Summer for school.  We recommend diving into some inspirational wedding magazines to keep up on the latest in wedding styles and trends.  Above are just a few of our favorites!

Who’s Who Wednesday :: Meet Your New Blogger, Devany { Savannah Wedding Planner }

Hey Everyone! I’m Devany, and I’m your new blogger for Design Studio South! I’m so excited to join the team here at DSS and bring you the latest in everything wedding related. A little bit about me: I’m originally from Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Johns Hopkins University. I first started in wedding planning because I *love* seeing two lives come together in such a magical way, and then I fell in love with the planning process too! Fun fact: I love dogs (and cats), especially Corgis and Australian Shepherds, and as soon as I’m able I’m going to become a dog foster mom.
